Love it, hate it or simply ignore it, it’s still Valentine’s Day today.
Traditionally, a day for lovers, we’ve decided that it should also be a day for small business owners. So here are three oh-so-important ways to express love if you’re a small business owner.
Small business owners are so susceptible to burnout.
There are usually a million things to do and zero time to do them in. So you run yourself ragged trying to finish everything, ignoring all your needs to squeeze in another 10 minutes to get just one more thing done.
It’s simply not sustainable in the long term.
The best thing you can do for yourself today is to take some time out for yourself. Treat yourself, even if it’s something as simple as a delicious cup of coffee from your favourite cafe. Go for a walk, or a run or even a swim if that’s your thing. Have a nice meal. Watch a movie. Hug your family.
You’ll come back to work feeling refreshed and recharged.
Remember, it’s important for you to take care of you.
Love your customers
Who doesn’t love special treatment?
Your customers will love a little something from you to brighten their day.
It doesn’t have to be fancy. Handwritten ‘thank you for purchasing’ notes, birthday offers, holiday offers, seasonal discounts and other such goodies are a lovely little surprise in the inbox.
Want to make life easier for them? Suggest items that pair well. Got a pair of earrings that are perfect with that scarf? Tell them!
Listen to their feedback. Comments, critiques, suggestions. Receive it all with an open heart and mind. Make note of it. Think on it. And improve.
Loyalty, like Rome, wasn’t built in a day. It comes with time and effort.
Love your business
Do you think about your business half the night? Do you make plans for the future? Do you dream about it? Do you want the best for it? Do you put its needs above your own all day long and then some more?
Your relationship is probably your baby. Or your other baby. It too needs some TLC.
The best thing you can do for your business this Valentine’s Day is to spend some time doing one of those million things that you KNOW will boost your business if only you had the time for it.
Spend some time planning. Create some offers. Get on social media and tweet your customers. Catch up with your books. Come up with some content. Get some help on the things you desperately need to do but don’t know how to.
Your business will thank you for it in the long run.
We hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s day, filled with love!
